Community Services Admissions
Children’s Community Services are offered to children and adolescents with a diagnosed mental health or substance abuse disorder who have numerous deficits in their areas of function that require a variety of services and/or resources to meet those needs. Community Services are community based and provided throughout Collier County. Children can access these services in Naples and Immokalee, but must meet certain clinical criteria to enter into the program determined by a clinician through a comprehensive clinical assessment.
Case Management

Case Management services are designed to help children up to 18 years old achieve an optimal level of independence by coordinating training in the areas of basic living skills, conflict resolution, problem solving, medication management and socialization. These services are provided in the child’s natural environment and include assessments and referrals that link them with a variety of community resources. Children are monitored regularly to ensure an ongoing continuity of care is maintained, newly identified needs are addressed and progress is being achieved toward treatment plan goals.
Therapeutic Behavioral Onsite Services
Therapeutic Behavioral On-Site Services (TBOSS) are designed for children and adolescents ages 2-21 and their families. These services help children who have complex needs in an effort to prevent the need for a more restrictive placement. These children display a high frequency of behavioral and emotional challenges. The behaviors interfere with the child’s ability to interact with peers, family and school staff. It is recognized the important role that the family plays in the child’s success so treatment services are provided on an individual and family basis.
TBOSS provides an individualized therapeutic approach where the disruptive behavior occurs, allowing access to a child’s natural behaviors, environments and care givers. This can include the home, school and daycare.
Comprehensive services may include:
- Treatment Planning and Review
- Individual and Family Therapy
- Social Skills Development
- Behavior Management
- Medication Management
- Crisis Intervention
- Referral and Linking Services (as needed to case management and psychiatric medical services)

The children receive mental health and substance abuse services including psychiatric medical services, evaluations, assessments and ongoing consultation with on-site treatment planning, case management review and individual and family therapy. Bi-weekly, joint instructional planning sessions with the treatment team including the school’s teacher and behavioral analyst and the David Lawrence Center therapist ensures the best outcomes for each child.

Community Action Team

Children’s Community Action Team services are provided in the community and are individualized based on the unique needs of each youth and family. These culturally competent, strength-based services promote recovery and resilience and provide the support necessary to keep the youth in his/her family and in the community. Youth and young adults ages 11-21 who meet certain clinical criteria are eligible to receive Community Action Team services. The average length of stay in the program is six to nine months. This program is funded by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
