TelePsychiatry
TelePsychiatry utilizes high-definition video conferencing units to bring doctors, therapists, and clients together virtually. Currently, the units are setup so that doctors and therapists at the main office in Naples can communicate directly with patients at the Center’s Immokalee Satellite office and at our community partners Youth Haven and Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida. This setup gives clients and patients in remote locations direct access to David Lawrence Center psychiatrists and mental health therapists. The goal is to streamline the path to mental health, increase the likelihood individuals will receive services when they need it and ultimately improve treatment outcomes.
The psychiatrist’s high-resolution screen provides a full or split-screen view of the patient, while an interface to DLC’s electronic medical records system on a nearby desktop computer enables the doctor to update patient records, make progress notes, or e-prescribe. In the remote location, the patient’s unit shows a similar, crystal-clear view of the psychiatrist.
