Holistic Therapies Admissions

The David Lawrence Center offers a variety of holistic therapy services to appropriate and eligible adult clients in our inpatient and residential programs. These supplemental services allow our clients to fully express themselves in a number of different ways and to provide a healthy outlet for stressors. Learn more about our various holistic therapy offerings below.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy at the David Lawrence Center allows our clients to explore feelings, fears, and desires that can be best expressed on paper and in artwork. The creative process involved with Art Therapy helps our clients to resolve conflicts, handle problems, and provide a healthy outlet to relieve stress.

Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, also known as “horse therapy,” is available to adults in the Crossroads Residential program. Through our partners at the Naples Equestrian Challenge, our clients are able to participate in exercises with horses that allow them to relieve stress and develop skills in self-expression. Other benefits of horse therapy are improvements in communication skills, relationship-building, cooperation, and self-reflection.

Pet Therapy

The Pet Therapy program uses pet interaction to help clients increase optimism, improve morale, and lower blood pressure and anxiety. Activities with certified therapy dogs are individualized to meet client needs and may include personal time with the animal, group socialization, or outdoor play.

Tobacco Cessation Services

The entire David Lawrence Center campus maintains and requires a tobacco-free environment for the health and safety of our clients and staff. Quitting smoking helps tremendously with both mental health and substance abuse issues. Tobacco cessation support services are available to clients of David Lawrence Center and include nicotine replacement therapies and tobacco cessation strategies.

Wellness & Nutrition

Our wellness activities address health and self-care, physical health, nutrition, medication management, healthy environments and relationships, spirituality and attitudes/behaviors. By covering the basics of wellness and nutrition, we are able to provide our clients with the tools necessary to live a healthy lifestyle that will improve not only their physical state, but their mental state as well.

Yoga & Structured Fitness

David Lawrence Center’s Yoga & Structured Fitness program integrates physical, psychological, and spiritual practice to achieve holistic wellness. Our yoga classes include a variety of yoga practices based on skill level. Through yoga and structured fitness, clients are able to increase self-awareness by finding ways to manage stress. Other daily exercise activity can include walking the 8-acre campus, basketball, pickleball, volleyball, weight training, swimming, and more.

Spiritual Support Services

David Lawrence Center Spiritual Support Services are offered to clients, family and visitors. By utilizing representatives from local spiritual and cultural organizations, clients residing in the inpatient Crisis Stabilization Unit, Crossroads Detox and Crossroads Residential programs are able to receive spiritual guidance at their request. Through this program, clients receive comfort and reassurance during pivotal times.
