David Lawrence Centers Receives Grant to Purchase Vehicles to Provide Community-Based Treatment to Children

Naples, Fl – David Lawrence Centers, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit mental health and addiction treatment center serving children, adults and families, is pleased to announce that the Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church Community Grant Commission has awarded the Center a $15,000 grant from their Archangel Fund for Collier County Charities. The grant will be used to purchase two pre-owned automobiles to be used to provide children, adolescents and their families with in-home, in-school and community-based treatment services.

David Lawrence Centers Children’s Community Services staff include a team of case managers, clinicians and outreach staff who provide face-to-face services in the environment where the child’s mental health and behavioral challenges frequently occur. Children and teens receiving community-based services often present with complex mental health, educational, emotional, social, financial, environmental and medical challenges which impact daily functioning. Clinical and case management staff offer needed advocacy, collaboration, and coordination with various service agencies to ensure youth and families receive necessary support to improve daily functioning, access services that allow them to be successful and promote mental wellness and stability.

Access to vehicles allows clinical and case management staff to seamlessly move throughout the community and interact with the child, their families and other agencies who work with the child. This promotes their ability to identify individualized needs, locate appropriate services and resources, promote access to services, coordinate intervention, and monitor the effectiveness of planned resources, services and interventions.

David Lawrence Centers CEO Scott Burgess said, “We are grateful for Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church and their Grant Commission for their continued support of our mission. The purchase of these vehicles helps deliver our treatment staff directly to the families who, due to a variety of treatment barriers, otherwise couldn’t access the care their children desperately need. By removing these barriers, we can improve the lives of children in need in our community.”
