DLC Sound Minds™ 2021
Mar 05, 2021 12:00 PM — Mar 05, 2021 01:00 PM

For the past seven years, David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC) has hosted its Sound Minds™ Mental Health Symposium. Past speakers have included a political policy maker, a Columbine shooting survivor, a mood disorder expert, and national scientists and local mental health advocates. In light of continued uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, DLC has decided to host our signature Sound Minds fundraiser virtually.
DLC will host the Sound Minds™ virtual event on Friday, March 5, 2021. The Sound Minds event will feature actor, director and mental health advocate, Sean Astin. Astin, best known for his role as Bob Newboy in the Netflix’s horror thriller Stranger Things, and his classic and beloved characters – Sam in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the title character of Rudy and Mikey in The Goonies – will shed light on the “Changing Face of Mental Health” discussing his family’s personal journey of living with a loved one with bipolar disorder. His late mother, Patty Duke, also a famous actress turned mental health advocate, struggled with the ups and downs of bipolar disorder throughout her life.
