DLC BREAKS GROUND ON NEW CHILDREN’S OUTPATIENT SERVICES BUILDING

In June, members of the DLC Board of Directors and executive management along with our contractor Heatherwood Construction gathered to celebrate the official ground breaking of the new Children’s Outpatient Services Building. This new building will be located on the main Polly Keller Campus off of Golden Gate Parkway along the Southeast corner of the property and is expected to open in the Fall. The new building will add an additional 2,000 square feet of treatment space dedicated solely to children’s services including two new group rooms, outpatient therapy offices, doctor’s offices and a nurse’s station. The cost of the project is $540,000.

This expansion will help meet the growing demand for services, make room for new evidence-based children’s programming and free up space for new adult programs and services planned for the Fall.

Construction of the Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit is also underway. This project will add four additional beds to our campus bringing the total bed capacity to eight for children and adolescents in need of emergency mental health care. The renovation will also allow for a larger dining area.

These projects are designed to expand and enhance the children’s services continuum as spelled out in our 2020 Vision five-year strategic plan now beginning its third year. In order to be the leader in pediatric behavioral health in Southwest Florida, the plan specifically calls for a focus on early identification, screening and assessment through the implementation of additional evidence-based practices, technologies, holistic treatments and new children’s intensive services as well as expansion of facilities.

Fundraising is critical to support these initiatives. You can make a donation online or contact Director of Constituent Relations Darcy Taylor at 239-354-1419 for more information.
